About Jamaica Press
Founded in 1961 by Henry Mitchell, Jamaica Press is now run by his son Phil and grandson Paul, combining traditional values with present skills and facilities.
Our team
We have built a sound reputation on a high standard of service and quality products and we have further strengthened in recent years as Investors In People. While our objective is to meet customers' needs professionally, you will find us friendly and easy to deal with. We're in the communications business and, with your interests at heart, we communicate effectively - building strong relationships within the team, with our customers and our suppliers! You can consult us with confidence for all your design, print, web and office requirements.
Our environment
We are privileged to live and work in a beautiful part of God's creation, and this inspires us to give careful thought to our impact on the environment. Neutral chemistry in computer-to-plate processing and vegetable-based inks have reduced our carbon footprint substantially. We can recommend excellent FSC and recycled paper products. Customers' used printer cartridges are collected for recycling. Whilst not seeking formal environmental certification at present, we have a practical attitude to caring for the environment and have already trialled our delivery vehicle on bio-diesel.
Our community
Community means a lot to us - demonstrated by nearly three decades of involvement in regularly publishing the forty-plus page Hartland Times for local parishes. We believe strongly in the value of local trade and prioritise our purchasing within our prime business area. Every pound spent locally goes on to circulate in this area.
Our name
Our name is derived from the premises we used to occupy - the former Jamaica Café in Hartland, whose proprietor sailed in HMS Jamaica. The great thing about our unique name is that it is memorable and synonymous with a quality reputation.
