Founded in 1961 by Henry Mitchell, who had a lifelong involvement in print, Jamaica Press developed in the former Jamaica Café premises in Hartland (the café had been established by a petty officer who served on HMS Jamaica). The business has grown from a simple letterpress facility to embrace a wide range of print functions. In 2009, Henry's son Phil and grandson Paul moved the business to the present new premises.
